If you wish to have straight tresses without damaging your lustrous long hair while avoiding harmful chemicals and heated instruments, there are some ingredients in your kitchen that can help straighten your hair naturally.

You can opt for many combinations like lemon juice and coconut milk that act as cream conditioners and help in straightening your hair, or vinegar, which also helps in bringing out the perfect shine, says Cosmetologist Anjali Chawla. She suggests that following home treatments to straighten your hair naturally -

1. Lemon juice and coconut milk paste: Lemon juice and coconut milk are the best ingredients for straightening your hair naturally. When both are mixed together, they make a great cream conditioner. Apply the paste and wash your hair with lukewarm water. You will notice a clear difference if done twice a week.

2. Mix of bananas, yogurt, honey and olive oil: Mash two bananas with two tablespoons of honey, yogurt and olive oil. Mix nicely and refrigerate it for about 30 minutes. Apply the paste on your hair and cover it with a towel or a shower cap. After an hour, rinse it with cold water.

3. Soybean oil: Mix one tablespoon of soyabean oil and two tablespoons of castor oil. Heat the mix and then slightly cool it. Once the mixture is cooled, apply the mix on your scalp and hair and massage it for sometime. Leave it for 30 minutes and later wash off the mix with a mild shampoo.

4. Eggs and olive oil: Take two eggs and mix it with olive oil nicely. Massage your scalp with the paste and keep it for about an hour. This will not only straighten your hair but also soften and condition it.

5 Home Remedies for Glowing Skin

As autumn approaches most people start to stock up their creams, moisturisers and other skin nourishing products. Coming to people with oily and combination skin types, the skin starts to look better, more porcelain and glowing, but remember even these skin types will feel a tightening and stretching of the skin and will require not just moisturising but nourishing too.

1. Honey

Honey when taken internally and externally is excellent for the skin. For combination to dry skin types, take one teaspoon of honey and massage on the skin daily. Leave it on for about 10 minutes and then wash. Pat dry and you will see that not only is your skin softer but also glowing.

2. Figs

A popular favourite. Take two figs and mash them. Mix in with a little milk and gentle rub on the face for one to two minutes. Wash the face with water and pat dry.

3. Avocado

The healthy fruit with aphrodisiac properties works wonders for dry skin. Mash an avocado and apply it onto a clean skin, slowly massaging it. Leave it on for a minimum of 15 minutes before you wash off with milk and then water.

4. Papaya

You will be amazed at the goodness of this humble fruit and will use it time and time again on your skin in various treatments, and find regular positive results. Take mashed papaya and massage it onto the skin for five minutes. Wash the skin with milk and then water and see how clarified and soft your skin feels in minutes.

5. Aloe Vera

This modest plant can be grown practically everywhere — gardens, pots, terraces, etc – and is an excellent rejuvenator for undernourished skin. Scrape out the gel from the leaf, mash it and massage onto the skin. Let it sit there for 10 minutes and wash the skin with cold water and pat dry. Your skin will be rejuvenated naturally.
